Dance producers tend to release their music in a continuous flow. With FRIVOLOUS´ new EP on ~Scape it is different: it is a result of break, the conclusion of an existential experience. This experience is still so immediate that Frivolous is only able to relate to it in a metaphorical way:

"Finding my place in the hard, overbearing reality of Berlin's fashionable techno world after coming from the gentle disconnected reality of Canada's humble scene. This year i was curious, got to close to the edge of the pool (or was it an ocean?) and with the sound of a 'SPLASH' i was gone, into the darkness. The current swept me away, and eventhough i didn't like it, i had no choice but to succumb."

We do not learn what actually happened to the talented musician, but he seemed to have lost a usefull connection to his artistic means. But we are reliefed to hear that this eclipse did not last too long: "Until suddenly! I woke up! Somehow deposited on a cool white-sandy beach; all the innocence I'd lost and all the experiences I'd had somehow reformed as a foundation to support the perspective that i had before, had all along! It is a beautiful day, and this is my Island of New Sanctity."

The old balance of life and music might be gone – but the new one will not only be able to survive the relentless demands of Berlins dancefloors but to grasp the energy which used to be threatening. "Island of Sanctity" is the first release of new material done since Frivolous left Canada. While the accoustic version of the song describes the experience which led to the record, the revolving basslines of the two dance versions keep plowing the dancefloors - untill the dancers decline in satisfaction. The interaction of Frivolous´ musical sensibility with the demanding grooves creates a very special excitement and energy.
